Leo Sampson Goolden
Owner and restorer of yacht Tally Ho, Sampson Boat Company
I am a 27-year-old British shipwright and sailor. I originally trained as a boatbuilder in 2010 in my hometown Bristol, where we built and sailed Bristol Channel Pilot Cutters (with R-B Boatbuilding). Since then I have worked in numerous shipyards around the UK and the world, building and restoring traditional sailing boats. I have been saving money with the plan to build myself a new traditional gaff cutter or yawl, of around 55’ LOA. However, when I saw the information about Tally-Ho, I was intrigued and excited. The appeal of restoring a piece of history is obvious, and I have always been a fan of Albert Strange’s smaller canoe-stern yawls. To let such a unique and interesting yacht fade into nothingness would plainly be a tragedy.

Our work is done. But we're still around if we can help or advise. And the Albert Strange Association continues to follow progress.
Good Luck Leo and Tally Ho.
